If more than one pastor from a congregation is attending, the congregation pays for each pastor’s meals and accommodations but only one registration fee. Per the standing rules adopted by the conference, all District congregations (including those vacant, served part-time or served by a deacon) are expected to pay the registration fee. In addition, even when a Pastor is unable to attend the conference, his congregation is still expected to pay the registration fee.
This expense is the responsibility of the congregation.
Retired Pastors, who are members of the Mid-South District, are guests of the conference. The conference will pay the retired Pastors’ registration fee, lodging and meal expense. There will be no reimbursement for mileage.
If you would like a single room or if your wife is rooming with you, we request that you pay the difference for the two nights, $150.00. If your wife will be eating with you, we would ask that you pay an additional $170.00 to cover her meals.
Program — The Rev. Dr. Adam Koontz, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Denver, CO will be the primary conference presenter. Dr. Koontz’s presentation will consist of:
Overarching title: The Creator’s work in a confused time: finding faithful answers for God’s faithful
Made, not self-made
Who creates who we are? We will look at the history of technological self-making and how to think faithfully about being made, not our own makers.
Ordered, not disordered
Should our lives have some particular shape? We will look at the orders of creation in Scripture and in the history of Lutheran theology and how they guide our thinking especially about male and female.
Blessed, not cursed
Is God’s created order for our lives good? We will look at the Frankfurt School and its successors’ assertions about the family and how we can assert the goodness of God’s order with confidence.
God’s blessings on your travels.
