The Mid-South District is pleased to welcome the newest LCMS congregation to the district family. Chapel of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sharps Chapel, TN began formal worship in late May of this year at the town’s Senior Center. Rev. Paul Kritsch leads the services, with faithful assistance from wife, Dorothy.
Just a year or so ago, the two probably didn’t see themselves leading a brand new congregation – the first Lutheran congregation in Union County, TN, in fact. Rev. Kritsch and his wife had retired to the peaceful east Tennessee area after over 30 years in ministry. But a local Bible study started by Rev. Kritsch in late 2013 sparked interest in the possibility of a new LCMS congregation.
Rev. Kritsch notes that he let the Lord lead the way — and the first worship service of Chapel of the Good Shepherd soon followed. Now just two months into the new ministry, the congregation welcomes about 30 people for weekly worship and fellowship. Grateful for the use of the town’s Senior Center, they are currently seeking a more permanent worship home through the use of rented space from a local church.
We ask for prayers of thanks and encouragement for Rev. Kritsch and Dorothy as they begin this exciting new ministry journey! You can also follow the new congregation on Facebook at “Chapel of the Good Shepherd-Sharps Chapel, TN.”
