Mark Your Calendars for Youth Servant Opportunity, “Emphasis for Action”
IDEAS: If your youth group is still brainstorming on how they might #servemidsouth, check out the list of suggested service projects created by attendees of the recent Junior Youth Retreat in middle Tennessee. A special “thank you” goes out to Mr. John Hagge (Our Savior Lutheran – Nashville) for sharing these great ideas!
WHAT IS IT? “Emphasis for Action” is a week dedicated to service across the Mid-South District. Congregations are encouraged to identify service needs within their communities and then have the youth along with other members act upon those needs. You decide what the service project entails; it’s a week of action that can be tailored however is best for your congregation.
WHAT DOES IT COST? “Emphasis for Action” is a service event determined by each congregation; therefore the cost is determined by you.
WHEN IS IT? “Emphasis for Action” is to be held between November 8, 2015 and November 15, 2015. The event can be a week-long event, a few days or a few hours.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? Look for opportunities to serve your community and organize an event suited for your youth. Put the event on your youth calendar and advertise the event. Get the whole congregation involved! Make it a fun event and fellowship!
There are no rules! During the event, take pictures, encourage each other, pray for the person or group you are serving. After the event, send your photos and a description of what you did to the attention of the Youth Board at the District Office or post on social media #servemidsouth.
WHERE CAN I GET HELP? Contact any member of the Youth Board.
