The Mid-South District recently conducted several Treasurers Workshops during the months of January and February. These workshops are held annually to discuss updates to the LCMS Treasurers manual and also to offer guidance regarding QuickBooks.
There were a total of four workshops offered at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Nashville, TN, Grace Lutheran Church in Little Rock, AR, First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith, AR and the Mid-South District office in Cordova,TN. There was also a workshop scheduled at Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, TN however it coincided with the winter storm that came through in January. We regrouped and had it at another location in Knoxville via GoToMeeting. Three people braved the road conditions and showed up in person. Thankfully all who registered were able to attend and we hope that more will take advantage of these learning opportunities in the future. Our thanks go out to the host congregations.
The guest speaker for the Treasurer’s manual updates was Mr. Charles Rhodes, Retired LCMS Director of Accounting. Charlie has conducted the Treasurers updates for several years and made many friends throughout the Mid-South District. Mrs. Angela Fowler, Executive Director for Business and Finance at the Mid-South District conducted the QuickBooks presentations which focused on QuickBooks Best Practices. There was also an opportunity for attendees to share information with each other regarding techniques they had learned using QuickBooks.
If you are currently serving in the area of Finance at your congregation and would like information regarding future workshops please email Angela Fowler.
