Central Arkansas Tornado Relief – Memorial Day Weekend Servant Event
Our initial servant event for our District congregations (and others from around Synod) will take place over Memorial Day weekend. Please contact Ed Mell to schedule your team or for more information about what to bring, possible housing accommodations, etc.
Let us know the number of members from your congregation who are planning to come and serve.
Report to initial on-site check-in and registration between 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday that weekend
Peace Lutheran Church
800 S. Donaghey Ave.
Conway, AR 72034
We will direct you to the appropriate location to receive a work order from Lutheran Church Charities and/or Team Rubicon (a non-profit disaster relief and cleanup assistance organization begun by military veterans).
We will be working every day during Memorial Day weekend, including Sunday. There will be a Saturday evening worship service at Peace Lutheran Church in Conway at 7:00 p.m.
We are working on making arrangements for a meal for Saturday evening prior to the worship service. Holy Cow Smokers Pit Crew from Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, TX will also be coming to feed volunteers and affected communities’ residents during the weekend.
The focus of the disaster relief efforts continues to be cleanup, separation of debris into categories for safe removal at the curb line, and safety. It’s important to first check-in at Peace Lutheran because the scene can change frequently and we are updated frequently regarding needs in the affected areas.
