On May 20, 2017 Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (Loudon, TN) hosted 122 local veterans for our fifth annual pancake breakfast. Those who attended included veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the current Middle East wars. The program included a color guard to post the colors, pledge of allegiance, slideshow of local vets in uniform (way back when), a guest speaker, and singing patriotic music. Our featured speaker was Bill Prince, a twice-wounded Vietnam veteran and Marine Corps sergeant. His subsequent career in both government service and the private sector kept him directly involved in veterans’ issues and he is a life member of five veterans’ organizations. Eleven volunteers from Christ Our Savior did setup, decoration, food prep, audio-visual, and cleanup tasks. About 2/3 of the vets participating were from outside our church.
