Congratulations to three Mid-South District Lutheran schools on being selected to receive a Big City Mission grant from the LCMS. First Lutheran School (Fort Smith, AR), Concordia Lutheran Academy (Jonesboro, AR) and Belvoir Christian Academy (Chattanooga, TN) are among 45 LCMS schools nationwide whose urban education and outreach programs will benefit from a Big City Mission grant.
These grants were made possible by children in 38 states who brought in their nickels, dimes and dollars for “Big City Mission: Tools for School” — the mission project included in Concordia Publishing House’s 2015 “Camp Discovery” vacation Bible school program. In all, over $92,000 was collected through this effort: that’s a lot of change! As these funds are distributed to the recipient schools and used for programs such as tuition assistance and school supply kits, the prayer is that children who face some of the daily struggles related to inner city life will be blessed, that their burdens will be eased and their hearts opened to receive the gift of Christ’s love. We have no doubt that our three Mid-South District recipients will do amazing things with the blessing of a Big City Mission grant!
