On Sunday, Oct. 20, family and friends gathered in worship at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Memphis, to celebrate with Pastor Norman Groteluschen on the 70th anniversary of his ordination into the Holy Ministry. Senior Pastor Chuck Neugebauer presented his friend and mentor with a handsomely framed plaque from the Mid-South District Office recognizing Norm for his many years of faithfulness and witness. A letter of congratulations from District President Rev. Dr. Roger Paavola and greetings from former District President Rev. David Callies were presented to Norm during a reception in his honor. We give thanks for Pastor Groteluschen’s inspiring leadership as former District Executive Secretary for Missions and as former District President. His impact on pastors and mission plants in the District has been ongoing and has borne much fruit, thanks be to God. Norm’s humility and graciousness remain constant; in the words of his favorite verse: “By the grace of God, I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect…yet [it was] not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
