“Thank You for the 12,923 meals provided by the Sunday Offering! [from District Convention]”
In June 2015, Trinity/HOPE led two teams to Haiti to experience first-hand how the Holy Spirit is working through the feeding program at the schools. Six Mid-South District churches were represented on the trip from Sevierville, Knoxville, Memphis, Hermitage and Nashville. We were blessed to share Christ with over 2,600 children in 15 schools, although I am not sure who was blessed more – us or them.
It is exciting to witness God’s work through so many disciples that make sure the children are fed each school day at their Christian school. All the work is important from gathering fire wood, carrying water sometimes long distances up or down a mountain, cooking rice and beans over an open fire in over 90 degree heat, teaching with just chalk and broken chalk board, purchasing the food and being good students. Everyone that we met was excited to do their part and thankful to God for providing the resources. At the end of each school day they send thousands of disciples into the community to share God’s love and the saving grace they experienced at school with their family and friends.
Checkout our facebook page (TrinityHopeHaiti) for pictures and stories of the nine day adventure. Thank you to all the team members who paid their own way and gave of their time to share Bible stories with the children and see the need first hand of these people hungry for food and God’s Word.
The following congregations were represented on the team:
Emmanuel Lutheran Church – Hermitage; Rhythm City and Our Savior Lutheran Church – Nashville; Christus Victor Lutheran Church – Knoxville; St. Paul Lutheran Church – Sevierville; Christ the King Lutheran Church – Memphis
