On Sunday morning, March 19, the Rev. Paul E. Kritsch was officially installed as pastor of Chapel of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Sharps Chapel, TN. The Rev. Dr. Roger Paavola, President of the Mid-South District, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, officiated at the service.
Kritsch, who is the pastor who helped the congregation to be planted in 2015, reported that he is confident in the direction of the church. “We began with just a precious few people in the spring of 2015,” he noted. “By God’s blessing and through his leading, our church is growing in numbers and in service to our community.”
The congregation currently meets each Sunday at 10:30 AM for worship, and each Tuesday morning a 9:00 AM for a neighborhood Bible breakfast in the Community Center, 1542 Sharps Chapel Road. They are working toward having their own church building on their land on Sharps Chapel Road. Thomas McCaffery, a member of the church, stated, “With God’s guidance we hope to be in our new building by the New Year.” The motto of the church, a quote from Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, reflects their confidence in the Good Shepherd : “Christ leads the way, stay close to Him.”
