While it is heartbreaking and overwhelming to see the devastation of Hurricane Irma–especially on the heels of the powerful storm in Texas–our resolve as Christians is always to help those in need. To assist our congregations as they make plans to help those impacted by this disaster, the Mid-South District Office recommends the following avenues of support:
Monetary Donations
Irma relief funds received by the Mid-South District will be used to help those impacted by the storm in both Florida and the Caribbean. Checks made payable to the Mid-South District and designated for “Irma Relief” can be sent to:
Mid-South District Office
1675 Wynne Road
Cordova, TN 38016
Donations can also be made on the Mid-South District website by visiting clicking “GIVE NOW.” Simply enter the donation amount in the “restricted” field and designate the gift for “Irma Relief.”
Volunteering
As with the storm in Texas, LCMS World Relief is coordinating a large “hands on” support effort for those impacted by Hurricane Irma. They are working closely with the Florida-Georgia District to determine needs and organize teams. If your congregation has a team of volunteers ready to help with the Hurricane Irma recovery, please visit https://www.lcms.org/irma and click on “VOLUNTEER.”
Please continue to pray for those impacted by the devastation of Irma. As LCMS congregations in the storm-ravaged areas reach out to those who were hard hit by this storm, please also remember those ministries in your prayers.
