The Coronavirus has shut down travel to Tanzania for the foreseeable future. This has resulted in the cancellation of the mission trip for the Christ the King in Memphis group that was to take place in late May. The second team, scheduled for late June has not yet made a decision. This will be made in a couple of weeks.
Tanzania experienced its first COVID-19 case in late March and now has close to 300. The government has shut down schools and worship services. Bishop Emmanuel Makala expressed his concern about how to pay the pastors of the Southeast of Lake Victoria Diocese with no offerings coming in. Where will he find $12,000, the amount needed to pay the pastors for one month? In Shinyanga, all offerings given in the worship services are cash, they do not have the option of sending a check or paying online as we do here in the USA. Your prayers are encouraged.
