The Tennessee District Board of the Lutheran Laymen League (LLL) unanimously voted on April 29th, 2022 to merge with the Mid-South LLL District. On April 30, 2022 the Tennessee District LLL held their Annual Conference at St Paul Lutheran Church in Paducah, Kentucky where this merger was formally announced. This merger will help strengthen these two LLL Districts and allow us to work with all the congregations within these two districts. Please pray for the success of this merger and the growth of all LLL Districts.
Rev Dr. Michael Zeigler from Lutheran Hour Ministries was our keynote speaker in Paducah. Pastor Zeigler explained how we as Christians are a family and how as a family we were brought in to the Church and how we should spread the Gospel within our neighborhoods. Pastor Zeigler reminded us that Lutheran Hour Ministries has many resources to help congregations, families and individuals to start a “Spiritual Conversation”. Such resources are the new “Better Together Kit” with the “Hopeful Neighborhood Book”. These resources explain what happens when Christians pursue witnessing to others. Pastor Zeigler shared several success stories regarding the use of these tools. Pastor Zeigler also provided the message in both services on Sunday.
LWML District President Candy Habich was in attendance in Paducah. She shared many of the projects in which LWML members were and still are involved. Rev William F. Zwick Executive Director for Missions and Ministry for the Mid-South District of the LCMS also presented information from the Office of the LCMS Mid-South. He told us how they are planning on helping churches grow in their outreach. Jan Simko, the new Mid-South District Disaster Response Coordinator also spoke. Jan was and continues to be a great asset in helping people in our area who suffered through the devastating tornadoes which tore through Northwest Tennessee and Western Kentucky on Dec 10, 2021. Her stories were heart-breaking, but yet very heartwarming because of the Christian Witnessing they provided.
— Ray Musgrave Tennessee LLL District President.
