SSELC – South Sudan
SSELC [South Sudan Evangelical Lutheran Church] was formed on June 12, 2011 in Bor area, Jonglei state, South Sudan by Pastors and Christians who moved out from the Episcopal church of Sudan, because of theological disagreement concerning theology and practice. That was after a very long struggle with the system which had mixed up Christian faith with some elements of African Traditional Religion worship (ATR). The 21 pastors began a study of different Christian denominations and finally, after reading and studying the Book of Concord determined that they were indeed Lutheran in their understanding of the Scriptures and as a result, established the SSELC.
The leader of the South Sudan Evangelical Lutheran Church is Rev. Nathaniel Bol.
