It was a busy year for St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wartburg, TN. Not only did the congregation celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation it also celebrated its own 170th anniversary. The 170th anniversary celebration was held on June 4 the day of Pentecost 2017. Rev. Dr. Roger Paavola preached and presided at a divine service of thanksgiving in which the entire church was filled to capacity. On July 20-23 forty members of the congregation traveled to St. Louis to mark the anniversaries and visited both Concordia Seminary and the International Center of the LCMS as well as many other sites in the city. A special divine service was held at the chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus to conclude the trip. Finally the congregation celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with a special concert on October 29th led by Mrs. Mary McDonald and a special vespers service of thanksgiving on October 31st.
